September Greeting
Dear Counsellors and High School Partners,
I hope that this finds you well as you begin a new semester. Having worked on the high school side for many years I understand this is not a rolling start but something closer to being launched from a rocket.
At VIU, and in the Office of Future Students, we understand the important and impactful work you are doing for your students every day. To that end we want to make sure that the communications we have with you are relevant and brief.
Over the last year at VIU we have adjusted how we support our prospective and current students. We want to make sure our students have clear and transparent access to all the services they need. Our newly formed Office of Future Students will be your primary point of contact for all students considering a future at VIU, whether they are international or domestic, local or out of province and regardless of program interest.
Though this is the first fall I will be working in the Office of Future Students with this incredible team, I have been fortunate to work in the recruitment office of two other BC institutions and more recently at a BC high school.
I know our team has been working hard to prepare for the upcoming fall so that when they are visiting your school they are providing you, your parents and your students with the most up-to-date and necessary information they need to begin planning their future at VIU.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at any time about any questions you have about VIU or any feedback about how myself and my colleagues can be of better service to you and your students. This fall we will also be hoping to form an advisory committee of counselors to help us improve how we engage with you and your students. If this seems like something you would be interested in participating in, please do reach out.
All the best for an amazing academic year,
Craig Brown

Student success is our mission
You want your students to succeed after high school graduation. We get it. We want that too. At VIU, we're on a mission to make sure everyone has access to an education. We'll help your students get where they want to go in life. And we'll make sure they get the most out of their time with us.
High achieving students have an opportunity to stand out from the crowd when they earn their bachelor's degree at VIU. Our undergrads take part in research that might be available only to graduate students at other schools.
What about students who need extra supports? Through Accessibility Services students with documented disabilities can get accommodations. Students who don’t have the prerequisites they need can get free supports through the Pathways to Post-secondary program. Pathways offers free supports along every step of a student’s learning journey.
Explore this page for all the information you need to help your students with their VIU application.

Should students contact Recruiters or Advisors?
VIU Advisors and Recruiters help your students at different stages of their education journey.
Your students should work with a Recruiter to navigate the application process. Recruiters can help with program selection, and they can answer questions about the application process.
Once a student has applied, they should contact advisors with questions. Advisors can help with course selection and connect you with other VIU services.
